Lyme disease is a bacterial infection most commonly transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. As one of the fastest-growing infectious diseases in North America, an estimated 300,000 people are diagnosed each year (though the actual number of undiagnosed cases is predicted to be much higher).
How you get it: As the tick burrows into the host’s skin, it feeds on the blood and releases a bacteria called spirochete into the bloodstream. The spirochete travels quickly through the body and makes their home in soft tissues and organs, the brain, the central nervous system, and joints and muscles.

Mitochondrial dysfunction in chronic illness: measurable energy deficits in ME/CFS & Lyme. Cause or consequence? What evidence shows and how it shapes treatment.

Gut health after antibiotics: long courses permanently alter bacteria, raise inflammation & C. diff risk. Learn what’s lost after treatment and how to rebuild.

Post-exertional malaise is a delayed crash 1–2 days after physical, mental or emotional effort. Common in ME/CFS, Lyme & mold illness and not deconditioning.

Identify the types of ticks in the US, deer tick, dog tick, lone star tick, and more, the diseases each one carries, and the steps to take right after a bite.
